Town recommends $2,975 to charter bus to Annual Black History Month Invitational Swim Meet in DC.

THEODORE D. YOUNG COMMUNITY CTR.
TY 1 – 2/03/09 Resolution requesting the Town Board of the Town of Greenburgh authorization for aquatics personnel and members of the swim team to attend the 22nd Annual
Black History Month Invitational Swim Meet in Washington, D.C. (February 13, 14, 15, 2009), at no cost to the Town
TY 2 – 2/03/09 Resolution requesting the Town Board of the Town of Greenburgh authorization for aquatics personnel and members of the swim team to charter a bus from the White Plains Bus Company to attend the 22nd Annual Black History Month Invitational Swim Meet in Washington, D.C. (February 13, 14, and 15, 2009) at a cost not to exceed $2,975.00

Fascinating! What is this latest fresh hell? Is this in retaliation for the flack Paul took over wanting to charter a bus to DC for the inauguration? Who is paying for coaches, chaperone's, lodging, food....................?

I've yet to see the actual 8.3% cuts to TDYCC budget but I sure see a host of additions.

Where do I sign up for the free bus leaving Hartsdale headed for the Saint Patrick's day parade? We have one, right?

Open letter to Hal

Question: What's possibly worse than an anonymous posting?

My Answer: An anonymous hosted blog.

Feiner can delete at random but at least blog visitors know that he is doing it and can, as participants here in a "speak freely" society, raise all sorts of speculations as to his movitivation.

I would think that those behind this openess would at least have the principles to identify themself or themselves.

Until our hosts care to identify themselves,I'll stick with Feiner and Lohud.

Good morning Hal!

I agree with you. I wish I could ID myself but I can not.

It's true that on Paul’s blog we know it's Paul who is removing posts but we sometimes do not know it is Paul who is posting as he chooses to be anonymous at times himself. Of course, those familiar with his writing style know when he blogs anonymously.

While it was absolutely necessary for some recent comments to be removed, others should not have been.

Paul should answer these uncomfortable questions and sign his name to the answers if he wants to stop the slander of particular individuals. Instead, his action to delete “raises all sorts of speculation as to his motivation".

My intent is not to provide a forum for destructiveness. My intent is to allow all information to be exchanged freely. Paul’s blog has been a great source of knowledge for myself and others. He chooses a variety of media platforms to communicate to the public and only what he wants us to know, yet, when the public wants to communicate with him, they stand before him and ask questions never to be answered, when answered, receive nonsensical answers to divert attention away from the topic, get buzzed into silence, get accused of slander when someone points out questionable actions by an individual, have comments and questions on the blog deleted...........

There is no open government in Greenburgh and our government's continued efforts to keep it that way perpetuates the undesirable characteristics of Paul's blog because of the publics need for answers and truth. Only he and the counsel members can effect a positive change on the blog and in this town.

You see, Paul never really thought through the ramifications of hosting a blog. Surly, his intent was to self promote his ideas, feed us selective information and keep a watchful eye on the attitude of the general population. It was not meant to have town practices questioned. Blogging is not a one way street like televised, buzzer restricted, dog & pony show, no questions from the peanut gallery will be answered, town meetings. There is an exchange taking place on a blog. Free speech and an exchange of ideas. Whoops!

I’m a busy person and have no time or interest to moderate or maintain a blog. Until such time Paul decides to face the public and answer their questions, this blog will exist. If bloggers drag it into the gutter, I’ll consider removing it. I’m going to assume people will act maturely. If it lends itself to misinformation and half truths, commingled with facts and information hidden from the public, so be it. We will have to muddle through it all. The general population of Greenbrgh is misinformed about how our government operates and needs to hear more of the good, bad and ugly. If the public believes false statements contained here ,or anywhere else, who will be responsible for that? Certainly not this blog host.

The ground has shifted below us…… The old way of conducting business in Greenburgh needs to come to an end. It has brought nothing but ill will, deceit and unfairness.

Hal, I have great admiration and respect for you. You have been a wonderful source of information and a tenacious force in exposing the truth. You are welcome here anytime but I completely understand why you would choose not to participate. Thanks for all of past and future dedication to the finding the truth.

Have a great day.

Paul tells bloggers to comment freely after launch of Greenburgh Speaks Freely blog.

Make what you want out of this.

PAUL FEINER said...

Hi: I have received many complaints over the past few years about the tone of the blog. I haven't taken any action up till now because I want your input. In fact -- I have benefitted from your criticisms and statements. I have even modified some of my views, based on your comments. Bloggers should feel free to comment freely about issues. Just don't personalize the attacks. You can criticize elected officials for voting one way or another but don't defame someone, make false accusations or focus on personalities. FOCUS on town issues. If we can exchange opinions about town issues-- and avoid mean spirited attacks this blog will be helpful to all sides.
